STRUCTURE & HEALTH

CHIC #183180. DM clear, OFA eyes (x2), echocardiogram (x3), and thyroid (x2) normal. UC Davis genetic diversity tested & listed in BetterBred. Full dentition and scissors bite. Athletic and feminine, Fennel exhibits noticeable traits of sexual dimorphism including a longer body, shorter coat, and feminine headpiece. Good bone, slightly refined on body. Her moderate angulation is nevertheless very balanced, and she is an effortless mover with an open sidegait and clean, single-tracking down & back. Level back which smoothly arches in a rise over her long loin. Brisket is more shallow than desired. Nice shoulder layback, but could use more return of upper arm. Slightly forward set front. Neck attachment to chest is lacking in breadth. Nice high set ears, slightly large. Lovely head with parallel planes and little stop. Could use more underjaw. Lovely expression and dark pigment. Nice gently curved tail, well-knuckled hare feet and strong pasterns.

TEMPERAMENT

Sweet, steady Fennel is everyone’s friend. In fact, she has completely missed out on the concept of personal space. She is amazingly adaptive and gentle with other dogs, animals, and people of all ages. Her fatal flaw when younger was that she loved to steal anything she thought was interesting, but has largely grown out of this behavior and is otherwise a dog that garners few complaints. She is smart, biddable, patient, and a “do anything” and “go anywhere” kind of gal. She has extremely high chase drive and has excelled on the lure, but exhibits only moderate live prey drive. She will hike all day but has an easy off-switch. She is also exceptionally silly. Like her parents and siblings, her quirky behavior will keep you laughing every day.
